Beating the crowds

  • Tuesday to Thursday is quietest almost everywhere, and often cheaper.
  • Skip Saturdays and Sundays at the Mary Jane base, which fills first; use the free G Lot or North Bench lot at the main base and walk or ride to West Portal.
  • Sunday afternoons are the heaviest traffic on Berthoud Pass and US 40 back toward Denver; leaving before noon or after 4 pm helps.
  • Lifts open at 8 am on weekends from Dec 5 to Apr 4, so weekend first chairs are later than weekdays' 9 am start only by an hour; mid-week mornings are the least crowded.
  • The Village Parking Garage is free from 3 pm to 6:59 am, so late-day parking there is an option.
