Beating the crowds

  • Tuesday to Thursday is quietest almost everywhere, and often cheaper.
  • Park in the Bear Den Lodge lot rather than the outer free lots, and use the free shuttle from the outer lots if they fill. Parking has been reported as full even on fairly quiet days, so arrive early.
  • The Cloudspin gondola line tends to be long. Walk up from the base to the Face Lift for mid-mountain access with little or no line, then take the Summit and Little Whiteface lifts.
  • Avoid blue trails such as Excelsior, Lower Northway and Paron's Run at peak times, and ride the upper-mountain lifts instead of riding from the bottom.
  • Buy online at least 7 days ahead and choose a weekday to avoid the weekend rate. The Dec 24 to Jan 1 and Feb 15 to 19 school breaks are the heaviest stretches.
