Beating the crowds

  • Tuesday to Thursday is quietest almost everywhere, and often cheaper.
  • Weekend crowds peak roughly 10 AM to 2 PM. Arriving before 8 AM on Saturdays and Sundays generally gets a parking spot in the main lots, and arrivals after 9:30 AM may end up in overflow lots.
  • General parking is free. VIP parking must be bought online in advance and guarantees a spot in the upper lot, so buy it ahead if you want to avoid the overflow walk.
  • Weekday non-holiday mornings are the quietest time on the mountain. The resort's Session 3 and 4 night windows (4 PM to 9:30 PM during the winter season) are generally lighter than weekend daytime.
  • The Ski Train from Boston's North Station to Wachusett Station runs on select weekends. It is a way to skip the Route 2 and Route 140 traffic, but check the 2026-27 schedule, which was not yet posted when last checked.
