Beating the crowds

  • Tuesday to Thursday is quietest almost everywhere, and often cheaper.
  • Ski on weekdays. Onthesnow lists the adult window rate at $88 on weekdays versus $110 on weekends, and the resort says it limits day tickets on peak days, so weekday visits are less likely to sell out.
  • Buy day tickets online at least 10 days ahead. The resort says prices rise as the date approaches.
  • Ikon Bonus Mountain days at Tamarack are direct-to-lift, not a window purchase, and no lift reservation is required, so Ikon holders can skip the ticket window. Plan the Ikon blackout dates of Dec 26 to 30, Jan 16 to 17, and Feb 13 to 14 around these.
  • Avoid the Dec 21 to Jan 1 Boise school winter break and the Mar 15 to 19 spring break if you want fewer people on the mountain.
