Beating the crowds
- Tuesday to Thursday is quietest almost everywhere, and often cheaper.
- Parking is free and first-come, first-served. When lots fill, attendants send cars to overflow lots and run a shuttle, so arriving before 9 a.m. on weekends gets you a closer spot.
- The town shuttle from Glenwood Springs runs Friday through Sunday in the 2025-26 schedule (8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. departures, returning at 4:20 p.m.), with no shuttle Tuesday through Thursday. Confirm the 2026-27 schedule before planning a weekday trip, since you'll need to drive.
- Sunlight is about 13 miles south of Glenwood Springs on County Road 117, roughly 3 hours from Denver and 1 hour from Grand Junction. Weekday mornings are the easiest time to drive up.
- The resort has three lifts and all terrain returns to the base lodge, so the top lift is the main bottleneck. Mid-week and early-season days usually spread the load across the mountain.
