Beating the crowds
- Tuesday to Thursday is quietest almost everywhere, and often cheaper.
- Plan for the South Ridge lot to fill first on busy days. Driving on to the Jordan base, the farthest one on Sunday River Road, usually adds a few minutes of driving and avoids the longer shuttle queues.
- Free shuttles run on the hour and half-hour from about 7 a.m. on weekends and holidays, so catching an early run from Grand Summit or Barker helps on peak days.
- Sunday River Road is two lanes for about six miles from Route 2 in Bethel. Arrive before the morning rush or leave after the last lifts to avoid the worst of the traffic.
- Weekday visits are generally calmer than weekends, and the Chondola and South Ridge Express run 3 to 6 p.m. for twilight skiing on the selected dates, which can be a lighter-crowd option.
