Beating the crowds

  • Tuesday to Thursday is quietest almost everywhere, and often cheaper.
  • Park in the free lots at River Run or Warm Springs base areas and ride the free Mountain Rides buses, which run between Bald Mountain, Dollar Mountain and the Village.
  • Scout reports the River Run side of Bald Mountain is sunny in the morning; head to the Warm Springs side in the afternoon.
  • Lift lines are rarely long here, but the Lookout and Christmas chairs are typically less trafficked than the main front-side lines.
  • Two new lifts open in December: Lookout Express (high-speed six-pack) and Christmas (high-speed quad). Expect the first weeks after Dec 1 to be the first chance to see how lift traffic shifts.
