Beating the crowds

  • Tuesday to Thursday is quietest almost everywhere, and often cheaper.
  • Non-passholders pay for parking Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from Nov 20 through Apr 30, plus Dec 18 to Jan 3, Jan 18 and Feb 16. Rates are $15 for 5 hours and $25 all-day, so plan for the fee on those days.
  • Carpools of 4 or more can get free parking in designated lots, first come first served, until the lot fills or 10:00 AM, whichever comes first. Scan the QR code at the carpool lot. Arrive before 10 AM to use it.
  • Ikon Pass holders no longer need reservations at the Summit or Alpental this season, but Ikon holders are still charged for parking on paid parking dates. Midweek visits or a pre-dawn Saturday start avoid the worst I-90 backups.
  • Check WSDOT pass conditions and traction tire rules before leaving Seattle, since I-90 slows sharply on busy ski weekends and during storms.
