Beating the crowds

  • Tuesday to Thursday is quietest almost everywhere, and often cheaper.
  • Most lots are free and first come, first served, and they fill early on powder days. Arrive early or carpool, since carpools of three or more get free carpool parking.
  • The Upper Gad Valley lot is reservation-only in 2026-27. Paid advance reservations cover Lower Gad Valley, Pond and Chickadee lots, so check the reservation options before you drive up.
  • Check the Little Cottonwood Canyon road report before leaving the Salt Lake or Utah Valley area. Storm mornings can slow SR-210 to a crawl or close it for avalanche control, and traction rules may require AWD with proper tires or chains.
  • Buy tickets online at least 7 days ahead. Window tickets run higher, and the Dec 26 window price is $238 against $215 online.
