Beating the crowds

  • Tuesday to Thursday is quietest almost everywhere, and often cheaper.
  • Lifts start at 9 am on guided days, and the ticket tent opens at 8:00 am. Guided groups fill early, so arrive around 8:15 am to check in for rentals and join a group. Unguided skiers can arrive after 9 am.
  • Skiing runs Thursday through Sunday, plus Presidents' Day Monday, Feb 15, during the guided season. Midweek days are the quietest, and Thursday and Friday are less busy than Saturday and Sunday.
  • Lift loading stops at 3 pm, so plan the last run for the early afternoon.
  • There is no lodging on the mountain, and Uber and Lyft do not serve Silverton. Book a room in town early and use the Buckhorn Limousine shuttle from Durango if you are not driving.
