Beating the crowds

  • Tuesday to Thursday is quietest almost everywhere, and often cheaper.
  • Weekday skiing is the easiest way to avoid crowds; the gondola is the only way up to the terrain and is the main bottleneck at the start and end of the day, so arrive early or ride late in the afternoon.
  • Park in the large flat lot at the Kellogg base village; reviewers describe it as big enough for weekend crowds, so the lot is rarely the constraint.
  • Avoid the Dec 19 to Jan 3, Jan 16 to 18 and Feb 13 to 15 holiday pricing periods if you want fewer people; midweek dates in early and mid-January are typically quieter.
  • Mid-mountain lodge is the only food on the mountain on weekdays, so lunch lines are shorter if you bring food or eat early.
