Beating the crowds
- Tuesday to Thursday is quietest almost everywhere, and often cheaper.
- Parking reservations are required before noon on weekends and holidays from Dec 19 through Apr 4. Reservations open Oct 21. After noon, parking is free without a reservation, subject to space, so a midday arrival avoids the morning rush.
- Four or more people in one car get free parking reservations, validated on arrival. Passholders also get free reservations, with up to four active at once.
- Text "conditions" to 833-264-8516 for lot capacity updates and lift status. The resort posts capacity warnings as lots approach full.
- Turn off Highway 50 before Echo Summit, at Twin Bridges, to reach the base without going through the South Shore village. Chains may be required at Echo Summit, so check Caltrans cameras before you leave.
