Beating the crowds

  • Tuesday to Thursday is quietest almost everywhere, and often cheaper.
  • Base-area parking is free, but the lot fills on weekends, holidays and powder days. The resort recommends arriving before 9 a.m.
  • The Mountain Trail bus runs daily from downtown Santa Fe to the base, so you can skip the lot and the NM 475 drive entirely.
  • Weekday rates (Monday through Friday, excluding holidays) run about $22 less than weekend rates for a full-day adult ticket. Avoid the holiday rate windows of Dec 23-31, Jan 16-18 and Feb 13-15.
  • NM 475 (Hyde Park Road) gets heavy traffic on weekends and holidays. Leaving Santa Fe early or carpooling helps. Check NMRoads.com before you drive.
