Beating the crowds

  • Tuesday to Thursday is quietest almost everywhere, and often cheaper.
  • Park in the Gelande overflow lot and ride the free shuttle from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm instead of the Main Village lot, which is carpool-only (4+ people) during peak operations.
  • Midweek days, especially Tuesdays and Wednesdays, have the lightest crowds; mid-January to early February is the quietest stretch of the season.
  • Lift 8 (Legends) backside and the Catharsis area usually see less traffic and hold powder longer after midweek storms.
  • Drive US-550 from Durango (about 30 minutes); book shuttle or parking reservations in advance, since shuttles from Durango require reservations.
