Beating the crowds
- Tuesday to Thursday is quietest almost everywhere, and often cheaper.
- Parking is free Monday through Friday. On Saturdays, Sundays and holidays it costs $12 by credit card QR code, free after 1 pm, and free for carpools of 3 or more. Plan a carpool or arrive before the paid window if you want to avoid the fee.
- Take the UTA Ski Bus (Route 674, Ogden Station to Eden park and ride) or the free Powder Mountain shuttles from the Eden park and ride to skip the 14% grade on SR-158, which is the only road up and closes for avalanche mitigation at times.
- Day tickets are capped at 1,500 per day and walk-up sales are limited on peak days, so buy online ahead of time. UDOT lists Tuesday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., as the least crowded window.
- Timberline has the largest lot but Hidden Lake has the most lifts and trails with fewer spaces. Check the resort's parking status page before you drive, since lot closures are posted there.
