Beating the crowds
- Tuesday to Thursday is quietest almost everywhere, and often cheaper.
- Weekends and holidays are the busiest. Mt. Baker's parking lots can fill early, so arrive around 8:00 AM, or after 12:00 PM, when lots are less full.
- Traffic on SR 542 is heaviest on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from about 8:30 to 11:30 AM. Leaving Bellingham earlier or later avoids the backup.
- Choose a weekday. Mon-Thu is off-peak for lift tickets and parking is usually easier on weekdays. The afternoon discount lift ticket starts at 12:30 PM.
- Overnight parking at Heather Meadows and White Salmon needs a reservation. Check the parking status page for daily lot updates before you drive up.
