Beating the crowds

  • Tuesday to Thursday is quietest almost everywhere, and often cheaper.
  • Arrive before 9 a.m. on weekends and holidays. Resort and Mt. Charleston safety notices say lines of cars build up on Lee Canyon Road (NV-156) after that, and police can close the road when the mountain is at capacity.
  • Buy lift tickets online in advance and save the receipt on your phone or print it. Law enforcement checks tickets at traffic control points, and cell service on the mountain is unreliable.
  • Park only where posted and keep both tires to the right of the white line. Parking is restricted along Lee Canyon Road, and unauthorized spots get fined and towed.
  • Weekdays are the quietest option. Avoid the Clark County winter break (Dec 21 to Jan 1) and the spring break week of Mar 15 to Mar 19 if you want fewer people on the road and in the lot.
