Beating the crowds
- Tuesday to Thursday is quietest almost everywhere, and often cheaper.
- Most skiers return to the summit by the Golden Eagle Express gondola, which is the main access to the upper mountain. Ride it early on weekends and powder days, or plan to ski the lower Catamount and Pioneer areas first.
- Parking at the base is usually free and spread across several lots, with overflow areas used when the main lots fill. Arrive before the lots fill on weekends and powder days, and use the overflow lots if the closer ones are full.
- Holiday weeks are the busiest. Dec 26 to Dec 31 and Feb 13 to Feb 14 are restricted peak dates for Epic Day Pass partner days, so plan a non-peak week if you hold Epic access.
- Visitors arriving from Calgary can use the Champagne Powder Shuttle, which runs to Golden, plus a Golden-to-resort shuttle. This avoids the 3-hour drive and base parking pressure.
