Beating the crowds

  • Tuesday to Thursday is quietest almost everywhere, and often cheaper.
  • Parking: P2 is the closest free lot to the lifts but is usually full by 9:30 am. P4 has the most space and is a short walk to Timber. On heavy powder days, if the lots show full before 9 am, a later arrival around 10:30 am is often easier.
  • Stoke Shuttle runs between downtown Fernie and the hill from 7:45 am to 5:20 pm, with a lunch break. It is $5 per ride and must be bought in advance on the Stoke Shuttle app. This avoids the lot entirely.
  • On big snow days (roughly 20 cm or more overnight), expect traffic on the access road. Leave town early.
  • On powder mornings, especially during the holidays, get into the first-chair line by about 8:30 am, since lifts open at 9 am. Polar Peak closes at 3:30 pm, earlier than the other lifts.
