Beating the crowds

  • Tuesday to Thursday is quietest almost everywhere, and often cheaper.
  • Arrive before 9 a.m. on weekends and peak dates. The free base lots fill first, and the resort recommends arriving two hours early on busy days. Preferred slope-side spots cost $30 on weekends and $35 on holidays and peak periods, and reserved spots are held only until noon.
  • When the base lots fill, follow staff to the overflow lots at UNR Lake Tahoe, Aspen Grove, or Lakeshore Drive. Free shuttles run from those lots. Use the 5-minute drop-off zones to unload before parking.
  • Check the mountain report for parking capacity before you drive. Ride the Crystal Express early to reach the back side, which is less crowded than the front side near the base.
  • Avoid Dec 19 to Jan 3, Jan 16 to 18, and Feb 13 to 21 if you want fewer people. Mondays through Fridays outside those dates are the quietest. Eat outside the 12 to 1:30 p.m. lunch rush.
