Beating the crowds
- Tuesday to Thursday is quietest almost everywhere, and often cheaper.
- Park in the free day lots on Snowmass Road or at Treasury and Gothic, which are about a third of a mile from the base and fill first on weekends, so arrive early. Otherwise use the free Mountain Express bus from town to Mountaineer Square.
- Mountaineer Square is the main Mountain Express hub at the base, so use it to avoid the base-area parking crush on peak mornings.
- Front Range spring-break weeks in mid to late March are the heaviest traffic for the 4.5 to 5 hour drive from Denver via US-285 and CO-135, so leave Denver early or drive midweek.
- Crested Butte does not publish a parking reservation system for the 2026-27 season. Check skicb.com before your trip for any change.
