Beating the crowds
- Tuesday to Thursday is quietest almost everywhere, and often cheaper.
- Plan around Friday night traffic: Boston and New York weekend traffic runs north on I-91 and I-89, and the drive to Burke goes through East Burke on VT Route 114, which can be slow on weekends.
- The Friday before MLK weekend (Jan 15 to 18, 2027) is often the quietest good day in January, since the holiday weekend itself is busy.
- Early March, after the spring-break rush has started, is the classic midweek sweet spot; Presidents' Week (Feb 13 to 21) combines deep snow with the heaviest traffic of the season.
- Skip Dec 20 to Jan 2 if you want thin lift lines; that stretch has the longest lines and the least terrain open.
