Beating the crowds
- Tuesday to Thursday is quietest almost everywhere, and often cheaper.
- Early December and April are the quietest stretches, per the resort's own guidance. Big Sky is open daily from Nov 25 through Apr 11.
- Free lots fill first on weekends, holidays, and powder days. Shuttles stop only at Ramshorn, Levinski, Gallatin, Cinnamon, and Cedar lots, running 8:30 AM to 6 PM. Paid parking by the Exchange building requires a reservation made in advance.
- Use the Explorer Gondola from Mountain Village to reach the Lone Peak Tram. Shuttles no longer stop at the Lone Peak or Carpool lots.
- Ski Shedhorn and Dakota areas after lunch, which are less trafficked, according to OnTheSnow. Ride the Skyline Bus from Bozeman, which starts its winter schedule Nov 23, to avoid driving the canyon.
