Beating the crowds
- Tuesday to Thursday is quietest almost everywhere, and often cheaper.
- Weekdays are the quietest option. Snow Pass visits are valid Monday to Friday only, and the resort's own weekend and holiday tickets must be bought online in advance; sold-out online dates cannot be bought at the mountain.
- Skiers report that the upper mountain is less crowded on peak days. Lifts 7 and the Tomahawk quad are described as the places to ski on with little or no wait, and the trails between them are often quiet even on mid-winter Saturdays.
- Lodges get cramped on peak weekends and holidays, so plan to eat on a weekday or bring food for the slopes.
- Plan NYC-area trips outside Dec 24 to Jan 1 and Feb 15 to 19, when downstate families with school breaks arrive in numbers.
