Beating the crowds
- Tuesday to Thursday is quietest almost everywhere, and often cheaper.
- Parking is free and first come, first serve, and the lots sit close to the lifts. Bring lunch and keep it in the car to skip the lodge lines. Premium parking ($15 per day) is a small pull-through below the Experience Center.
- Sunrise Basin has a small lot and no ticketing or rentals, and it is mainly for season pass holders. Use it only if you already have a pass and can get a space.
- The busiest spots are the top of Chewelah Peak, where several chairs converge, and the upper Silver Ridge. Long chair rides and runs that go most of the way down spread skiers out.
- Drive US-395 from Spokane rather than the steeper eastern approach from Idaho, which is less traveled and icier. Expect about 1 hour 20 minutes from downtown Spokane.
